I’m an aspiring media artist and writer. As a new years resolution, I have made it a goal to spend 30 minutes 2 times a week to write and film up to 30 minutes of video. I really want to become a self-starter and expand on my skills. I have been writing since I was in sixth grade and working with film, web and graphic design since I was in eighth grade. This is my time to really act on my ambitions instead of just dreaming about them.
I’m a Senior this year in high school. While other students are rushing to complete applications for college and making the big decision of where to go, I’m over here with my arms crossed, a pouty face, and refusing to join this burst of insanity. In my opinion, I don’t need a piece of paper and a couple thousand under my belt to tell the world how smart I am. My determination is better for kick-starting my career in the things I love most.
A part of me has always been afraid that I will just follow in the path of so many others and work a dead-end job. I had so many people looking down on me for my decision to not pursue college. The heaviness of what people were telling me – that I would never get anywhere without this degree – was weighing me down. I stand steadfast in my decision but it’s hard. But this year is new and I’m more than determined to get my life going.
Here we go!
